Alder wood is a fine-grained hardwood with similarities to birch, cherry and maple. Its density and grain consistency lends itself well to the crafting of fine furniture, especially pieces with drawers and doors because of its limited shrinking and warping. Alder is kiln-dried to remove moisture and maintain the natural, rich honey color of the wood.
